WordPress 2.7 Upgrade is available

December 15th, 2008 Bob Stovall

WordPress has just released an upgrade to version 2.7. The biggest change is in the layout of the Admin section. A completely new interface has replaced the old familiar one.

The folks at WordPress were responding to suggestions and input from users who desired a more sleek, more controllable Admin area and they responded.

This version, known as “Coltrane” in keeping with the jazz greats naming convention was released on December 11. We have tested the new version on our test blog using a large variety of plug-ins with no problems.

At the end of this post there is an image of the new Dashboard and a link to a quick video I threw together to preview a few of the new features of the WordPress 2.7 Admin area. Click the image or the link to see the video.

Over the next week, we will upgrade anyone who requests it. If you are running WordPress on your OrangeCat server, the upgrade is free – but, we are breaking with an old tradition of automatic upgrades and you’ll have to request it to get it.

Upgrade requests that come via phone or regular email will cheerfully ignored. You’ll have to request via the Support System so we can track who has requested the upgrade and when it is completed.
